Vietnam, Việt Nam, is a Socialist Republic and located in Southeast Asia. It is bordered by China, Laos and Cambodia and the east has a coastal area along the South China Sea. Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam. Vietnam has over 90 million inhabitants.
GEOGRAPHY
Vietnam is an elongated country of some 3,600 km of which the narrowest width between East and West is only 50 km. With a coastline of over 3,000 km along the Gulf of Tolkin, the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand and the Mekong Delta as the main river, Vietnam is privileged with the import of plenty of fresh fish and seafood.
RELIGION
Buddhism in Vietnam is the most widely accepted, where ancestor worship is considered very important. In addition, Catholicism is also strongly represented in Vietnam.
LANGUAGE
The national script of Vietnam is based on the Latin alphabet. Vietnamese is a tonal language and contains 6 different tones and three dialects.
